SYLVIE ASTRID

Designer

Sylvie grew up in a home filled with architectural books, oversized advertising posters, and repurposed found objects, which led her to fall in love with design. Her first job was as a receptionist at Landor Associates—the prestigious Bay Area design firm—where she began saving for art school.

Before long an esteemed associate noticed her illustrations, and soon Sylvie was designing corporate identities. Her relationship with the universal language of the visual arts only deepened as she honed her design skills on brand campaigns for Fortune 500 companies.

Over the years, Sylvie has worked with a variety of clients, turning typographic and visual considerations into memorable communications, including illustrations for The San Francisco Art Institute, book designs for William Stout Architectural Books, and editorial and web designs for respected yoga studios. In a world of short attention spans and fast-paced technology, clients regularly express gratitude for Sylvie’s attentiveness and grounded nature.

Sylvie lives and works in the Pacific Northwest. In her downtime, she practices yoga, dances hip-hop, and enjoys adventures nearby and far away.

STEVIE MARLIS

Writer

After growing up on the frosty shores of Lake Erie, Stevie Marlis hurried to the West Coast and earned an M.A. in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. Following a brief academic career, she found her true north as a copywriter, first at Foote, Cone & Belding, a global ad agency, and then as a writer for hire.

Stevie’s won her share of Addy and Communication Arts awards. She’s also published widely and received a slew of literary prizes, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. As a storyteller, Stevie develops characters with unmistakable personalities. As a brand writer, she can’t say what she enjoys more: helping a start-up get where they want to go or collaborating with an established company to take their brand into the future.

Every writer basks in the sunshine of publication, but that’s not Stevie’s greatest pleasure. When not working on a project, you’ll find her hiking in the hills with her pup or at her desk again, crafting a new piece of fiction—as nothing makes her happier.

I trust Sylvie’s eye and design expertise implicitly. She produces beautiful, thoughtful, custom designs regularly for yogainternational.com, always providing exactly what we’re looking for, with multiple options to choose from, and always before deadline. I truly couldn’t ask for more. She is a true professional and a breath of fresh air.
